NATIONAL ABILITY CENTER TO HOST FIRST HAMLET CUP LEARN TO RACE CAMP

Held February 17-19, the camp helps youth with physical disabilities learn ski-racing skills

PARK CITY, Utah (February 6, 2007) — The National Ability Center will host a new ski race camp from February 17-19 called the Hamlet Cup Learn to Race Camp, sponsored by the Hamlet companies. Open to children with disabilities between the ages of eight to 16, this exciting three-day event is for youth of any ski level. “It’s magical to see these young children and youth come together to build self esteem and achieve goals they might not have thought possible,” says Meeche White, co-founder of the National Ability Center. “Our motto at the National Ability Center states, ‘If I can do this, I can do anything.’ This process of accomplishment is empowering to all who participate.” Held at the Park City Mountain Resort, the ski race camp offers children basic skiing skills and ski-racing techniques and tactics, while improving coordination and skiing ability. The course consists of a two-day productive training program, after which participants will demonstrate their newly learned skills for family, friends and peers during a Level 1 race on the third day. As the children progress in their skiing abilities, they can look forward to the opportunity to advance and become a part of the Park City Disabled Ski Team. The cost of the Hamlet Cup Learn to Race Camp is only $60 and includes two meals, coaching, lift tickets, race fee and three nights of lodging at the National Ability Center ranch. “We greatly appreciate the sponsors such as the Hamlet companies, who make it possible for our organization to hold these affordable events for people of all ages and abilities,” says White. “As we put the finishing touches on our new corporate sponsorship program, we are reaching out to those people who would like to help us continue to increase the number of families and individuals who want to participate in these events each year.” Michael Brodsky, owner and chairman of the Hamlet companies adds, “The National Ability Center has provided wonderful sporting and recreational experiences for individuals and their families for more than 22 years, and I am privileged to have been a supporter and participant of the organization for more than 20 of those years. The National Ability Center is truly committed to helping children and adults of all ages feel good about their own accomplishments and achieve their goals.” For more information about the Hamlet Cup Learn to Race Camp or other National Ability Center programs, please call 435-649-3991 or visit www.DiscoverNAC.org.
