Our History

The first Hamlet company, Hamlet Development Corporation, was founded April 1994 with a vision of providing top quality value priced communities within Northern Utah. A top notch management team was assembled and four organizations were eventually founded to address almost every customer need related to the residential real estate market. The four organizations that comprised the Hamlet companies were Hamlet Development, Hamlet Homes, Stirling Mortgage, and Diversified Habitats. In November of 2011 Stirling Mortgage after 14 years of operations was a victim of the housing market collapse and was closed down. Diversified Habitats was wound down in 2008. In January 2017, Michael Brodsky, the founder of Hamlet Homes and Hamlet Development Corporation, sold Hamlet Homes to four senior managers of the company. Barry Gittleman, President and COO; Jon Southern, Vice President of Construction; Phil Mosher, Vice President of Sales; and Elliott Jenkins, Vice President and CFO, collectively took 100% ownership of Hamlet Homes and created Hamlet Homes IV, a new organization in 2017 to reflect the new ownership. With the sale of Hamlet Homes to its senior managers in 2017, Brodsky continues to serve as the CEO for Hamlet Homes and, over the next few years, will provide support and advice to the new owners.

The focus at Hamlet Homes continues to be “to provide attractively designed that will be a lasting value”. Since the inception of our company, Hamlet Homes has provided over 3,600 families a place to call home.

Since 1994 Hamlet Development has been responsible for the creation of 63 communities along the Wasatch front containing over 4,500 home sites. In addition to providing home sites for Hamlet Homes, Hamlet Development has provided homes sites to a wide variety of builders across the Wasatch front. Hamlet Development Corporation’s objective is to provide developed lot inventory to Hamlet Homes as well as to oversee the Company’s commercial operations. These commercial operations included management of offices buildings and oversight of Elsinore Communications. Elsinore provides internet services to many of the communities developed by Hamlet.

Diversified Habitats was a unique component of the Hamlet companies. Beginning in 1996 Diversified was the first commercial wetland mitigation bank in the state of Utah. Its function was to provide offsite wetland mitigation for the unavoidable loss of wetlands in development sites. In its time, it was most unusual for a residential developer to also be a developer of new wetlands. Over the years Diversified Habitats created over 300 acres of new vibrate wetlands along the shore of the Salt Lake.

Hamlet is committed to creating communities that are well planned and blend into the neighborhood diversity of a community. Below is a summary of the 63 Hamlet communities created to date:
