Balintore Community Opening & Dedication Ceremony

Hamlet Homes is excited to host Balintore Community Opening and Dedication Ceremony for their new, almost completed, community, Balintore, located at 5600 South 770 East in Murray, UT, 84107. The event will take place on Friday, June 8th at 12:00 Noon at the Model Home in the community. An open house with tours, food and give-a-ways will continue on Friday until 5pm and then again on Saturday, June 9th from 11am to 5pm. The public and press are invited to attend. The property on which Balintore now sits on, was once owned by the Honorable Justice Richard Howe and his family. Justice Howe, was a former Utah Supreme Court Justice, among many other prestigious roles in the Utah Senate and House of Representatives. The property that is now known as Balintore was in Justice Howe’s family dating back to the early 1900’s. “We are thrilled to be able to honor the Howe Family by providing an opportunity for other families to make memories in this same location,” says Barry Gittleman, Hamlet Homes President. Hamlet Homes is honored to dedicate this new community to the Howe Family at this celebration and hope you will join us to mark this special occasion. Justice Howe and his family will be in attendance at the dedication and Justice Howe is planning to say a few remarks. In honor of the Howe Family, Hamlet Homes has named the main street that runs down the center of the community, Justice Howe Lane. Each of the addresses of all 24 homes and townhomes include this street name. In addition, a dedication plaque has been placed adjacent to the community plaque at the entrance of this beautiful and charming neighborhood. “For generations this land has been the site for countless family gatherings and the place in which many happy memories were made. We are grateful our family history will be preserved and hope people will enjoy this area for many years to come,” says Justice Howe. Balintore is one of Hamlet Homes most successful communities, launching for sale with an already impressive prospect list, in December of 2017 and is completely sold out with the exception of one single-family home. Many homeowners have already moved into their brand-new Hamlet Homes. This Community Opening event invites guests, homeowners, friends and family to see and tour the community, model home and be the first to get a sneak-peek at the newest communities that Hamlet Homes will be launching in the coming months. Many dignitaries will be in attendance, including and speaking at the event, Murray City Mayor Blair Camp. Mayor Camp highlighted that “We are pleased to have a number of quality Hamlet Homes communities in our city, with Balintore being the most recent. The Hamlet team has always delivered an outstanding product and has been great to work with over the years.” The invite list also includes members and office staff of the Utah Supreme Court, Utah Senate and House of Representatives. Councilmen, City Officials and members from the Chamber of Commerce will courteously introduce and join the Hamlet Homes team for the celebration. ABOUT JUSTICE RICHARD HOWE Among the earliest pioneer settlers of the South Cottonwood area were Richard and Ann Howe, both English immigrants who came with their families to Utah.  They settled not far from here and raised a family of ten children, most of whom remained in the area.  Edward Erastus Howe, a son of Richard and Ann, purchased this property from his brother in 1913.  He and his wife Mildred Jane Cuddy, raised their own family of six children in a large home they had built which, at the time, was one of the finest homes in the valley. A son of Edward and Mildred, Richard Cuddy Howe, was born in this big home in 1924. He attended Woodstock, Irving Junior and Granite High School, graduating in 1941. He later attended the University of Utah and the U of U School of Law. In 1949 he married Juanita Lyon, of Murray. In 1957, Richard and Juanita built their own family red-brick home on part of these two acres owned by his father.  They raised six children of their own. The property still had the old barn, pig pen and chicken coop. It was a children’s paradise with a large yard, many trees, and a swimming pool. Richard opened up his law practice on State Street in Murray and was one of the few attorneys in the city. He handled the legal needs of the growing community’s residents.  For a short time, he also served as Murray City judge. His desire to serve then led him to enter politics, where he first served in the Utah House of Representatives, then in the Utah State Senate over a span of twenty-eight years. In 1980 Richard was appointed to the Utah Supreme Court, where he served for twenty-two years, and as Chief Justice for several years during that time. He was known for his fairness and treating others with respect. He retired from the Court in 2002 after years of distinguished service. He spent many years afterward in caring for his wife, Juanita, through her illnesses.
