MURRAY, UTAH (November 2, 2006) — Representatives from The Hamlet Companies joined with Murray City officials yesterday to break ground on Hamlet’s new 32,000-square-foot Myrtle Medical Arts Center at 154 East 5056 South (Myrtle Avenue) in Murray. Michael Brodsky, owner and chairman of The Hamlet Companies, initiated the groundbreaking ceremony by sharing his vision for this facility.

“The Myrtle Medical Arts Center will be the first new ‘Class A’ office building to open prior to the Intermountain Medical Center (IMC), a 1.3 million-square-foot facility featuring five specialty hospitals situated on a 100-acre campus across the street from our property,” said Brodsky. “With a new demand for high-quality medical offices in Murray, we look forward to filling a part of this need by completing our state-of-the-art medical building in June 2007, just four months before the IMC is slated to open.”
Brodsky continued by recognizing all those involved in the project. “We are very fortunate to have James B. Glascock as the architect, Michael Richmond and Orden Yost of Commerce CRG handling the leasing and Camco Construction as our general contractor. The wealth of experience these individuals bring to this project will assure us that we will develop and manage an extraordinary building.”

In addition to being adjacent to the Intermountain Medical Center, the Myrtle Medical Arts Center is located within Murray City’s historic district. Keith Snarr, economic development director of Murray City, adds, “Hamlet’s medical facility is the first significant project to be built under the guidelines of Murray City’s Downtown Historic Overlay District (DHOD). It’s also being built at the same time as the cutting-edge Intermountain Medical Center, which is the largest hospital of its kind in the Intermountain area. Hamlet and James Glascock, president of James B. Glascock Architect, worked closely with Murray’s DHOD design review committee to understand their mission of promoting the authenticity of turn-of-the-century architecture within Murray’s historic districts. In addition, both Hamlet’s architect and builder specifically focused on how the building would be internally configured to serve the needs of medical practitioners, both from a space utilization and technology perspective. The resulting structure represents the best of old-world architectural style combined with the latest state-of-the-art technology powered by UTOPIA Community MetroNet (Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency), providing robust power supplies for x-ray and radiology services.

“We meticulously examined the historical styles and details, and chose those elements that would have been built and fabricated in the early 1900s,” says Glascock. “Our vision while designing this center was to keep the feel of a historic building while also providing a high-quality medical facility conducive for the single practitioner or groups of four to five practitioners working together. This facility is perfectly located for medical practitioners who own their own practice, but want to work nearby the hospital.”

Mary Ann Kirk, cultural programs manager for Murray City, states, “Hamlet’s new medical facility is the best proposal the design review committee has reviewed thus far.” She continues, “They truly caught our vision and came to us with a great architectural plan that was compatible with Murray’s design review guidelines for the district. This is a benchmark of what Murray City is trying to accomplish, and we hope other builders will join us in this endeavor, like Hamlet has done, to preserve and enhance our historic district with compatible structures.”

JEREMY RANCH, UTAH (September 12, 2006) — In their very popular and ever-growing annual golf tournament held in late August to benefit the National Ability Center in Park City, Jeremy Golf and Country Club and Murray-based Hamlet Companies raised more than $22,000 for the Center, one of the nation’s leading providers of sports and recreational activities for people with disabilities.

More than 100 golfers representing Utah’s building and real estate marketing industries, joined in this 9th annual event where the uncontested motto was, “the more your pay, the better you play!” Players were encouraged to make up for free green fees, carts and prizes donated by Jeremy, and a free dinner and event coordination by The Hamlet Companies, through giving generously to the Center in buying game mulligans, contest mulligans, feet of string (to make up for short shots), sand trap ‘outs’, and a marshmallow ‘out’ – escaping the softest, shortest drive on the course.

“This has truly grown into one of the most-enjoyable and worthy golf tournaments we annually host at Jeremy,” said Club pro, Tom Costello. “It is always a pleasure to do this good work for the National Ability Center and its executive director, Meeche White, and to join forces with Michael Brodsky and his wonderful team at The Hamlet Companies.”

PARK CITY, UTAH (September 5, 2006) — The Park City Racquet Club presented awards to Zach Ganger, 20, and Cinthia Saucedo, 21, who won the Men’s and Women’s Open tennis divisions during the Hamlet Homes Park City Labor Day tournament, August 30 – September 4. Tennis pro and Park City Racquet Club instructor, Eddie Merc, presented the awards at the USTA sanctioned event, which is its largest, local tournament of the year.

Ganger defeated Nick Coutts in the Men’s Open championship match 6-4, 6-3, and Saucedo defeated Elizabeth Ferris in the Women’s Open championship 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. More than 230 adult Park City entrants played in 20 different divisions, including local tennis pros Eddie Merc and Lauren Kemp.
An avid tennis fan and wife of Michael Brodsky, CEO of Hamlet Homes, Susan Brodsky regularly plays at the Park City Racquet Club. Her involvement led Hamlet Homes to become a sponsor of the Racquet Club five years ago at the 2001 Labor Day tennis tournament.
